The Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences (NERS) department mourns the loss of Shannon Thomas, a cherished colleague and friend who was a cornerstone of our community for over two decades. Shannon passed away suddenly on November 12, 2024, leaving behind an enduring legacy of professionalism, kindness, and dedication.
Shannon’s impact on NERS is immeasurable. As a key member of our administrative team, she provided unparalleled support to faculty, staff, and students, navigating the complexities of research administration with unmatched expertise and grace. Her commitment to excellence earned her admiration and respect across the department, and her presence was a steady source of strength and reliability for all who worked with her.
Colleagues recall Shannon’s remarkable ability to solve problems with speed and precision, often going above and beyond to ensure success. Her tireless dedication, even during challenging times, was nothing short of extraordinary. Whether working through holidays or late into the night, Shannon’s passion for her work and her unwavering support for the department were clear to all.
